Shakun Davi Dance is an extension of Chris Bisram's repertory including prior performances of Meh Mudda Deh at Socrates Sculpture Park, and Communicate Grief at Abrons Art Center as a part of Bisram’s EmergeNYC Residency. Since then Bisram has utilized the company to explore hidden bodies of water and other aspects of Eco-Dance and Water Art. Primarily the company is working towards dancing a majority of hidden bodies of water in NYC, through a community and multi-disciplinary approach. Bisram's choreographies around hidden waterways include For The Depths of Us and Introspection. For the Depths of Us is a collaboration between Bisram and Audrey Di Mola, which included dance and storytelling with Sunswick Creek, a hidden body of Water in Ravenswood Astoria, and was a part of Works on Waters, Water Connectors residency. Introspection was choreographed as a part of Bisram's Undergraduate thesis work, highlighting Luyster Creek, a hidden body of water in Ditmars Astoria, the dance has been performed at Hunter College, Four Freedoms Park at Roosevelt Island, and the Cove near Socrates Park. An excerpt of the piece was recently performed as a part of Long Island City Arts Open 13th Anniversary Kickoff alongside two other repertories, Waacking Playground and My Heart Goes to Heaven. Lastly Shakun Davi Dance was commissioned to make Mussels in Motion, a movement study of the Mussels in Newtown Creek for Priscilla Stadler and was performed as a part of her Solo show Mussel Memory, as well as in Fertile Ground.
